Search and Rescue

Microflite has over seven years of experience in all aspects of aerial search and rescue, and provide the two Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopters in association with Life Saving Victoria.

Our extensive fleet of single and twin engine aircraft has the versatility to tackle a range demanding search and rescue and patrol operations at short notice, and includes aircraft fitted with homing systems to locate distress beacons.

Microflite has CASA permission to operate up to 200 nautical miles from the coast of Australia, perform static line rescue operations, and drop emergency equipment. Our highly-trained pilots fly hundreds of hours of search and rescue missions each year, and are experienced in search patterns at various altitudes over a variety of terrain types and offshore conditions.

Previous assignments have included marine and terrain search and rescue for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA); flood and fire recovery for the State Emergency Service (SES), Country Fire Authority (CFA) and Department of  Environment, Land Water and Planning (DELWP); and provisional rescue service for The Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes air display team.
